We recently found a great article in Neurology Advisor that mentioned improvement of motor performance, daily living activities, and postural stability in Parkinson’s disease patients using Whole Body Vibration. We’ve written about this condition in a previous blog, stating WBV may help Parkinson’s patients improve the following:
- Muscle strength.
- Motor skills.
- Bone density.
- Gait and balance (lessening the risk of falls).
- Postural control.
- General quality of life.
US National Library of Medicine and National Institutes of Health additionally have published several studies that have included whole body vibration as treatment for Parkinson’s Disease. Including WBV as a non-drug treatment of Parkinson’s Disease and another controlled study showing that after 5 weeks of Whole Body Vibration, patients performed significantly better in the Functional reach test (FRT) and Timed up and go test (TUG).
We’ve even found Whole Body Vibration Training videos specifically for those working with Parkinson’s Disease.
