I was born in a small mining town in northern Mexico, but my family moved to Mexico City when I was 7 years old and it is there that I grew up. I love big cities (Mexico City was the largest city in the world at that time!) and seem to always end up in them. Portland is a small city by my standard but I love it here.
I came to the US in 1975 to attend university at the University of Arizona in Tucson. After 5 years of schooling, I decided that I wanted to live close to the ocean so I moved to Massachusets, first in the NW part of the state but quickly moved to Boston proper where I lived for 3 years managing a couple of janitorial firms and doing home repair on the side.
From there I moved to Portland in 1984 and was here for about a year but things were not working out for me so I returned to Tucson.
In 1985 my older brother died of cancer, and I was asked by my parents to take care of him until he died, so I moved to Houston, TX until his passing in August of that year. While I was caring for him I took a class in Foot Reflexology in an attempt to help him breathe better when he awakened in the morning. Much to my surprise it worked, I would work his reflex points for lung and chest and he would wake up with no congestion before I started to do the massage he would panic when he felt he couldn’t breathe and it would take us up to 2 hours to calm him down. So I contacted the woman that taught the Reflexology class and asked if I could study massage with her. She had a small massage school and I packed my things and moved to Houston for a year. I have been a practicing massage therapist since then.
I moved to Portland in 1993 and love it here. My practice is very fulfilling and I love watching my clients get more healthy and happy with time.
Tara and I opened BodyQuirks Wellness and WBV Studio to help our clients achieve a higher level of wellness by mobilizing and flushing out toxins from their bodies. The results we are seeing are amazing and we love it!
