Willamette Week’s 2015 Give! Guide

GiveGuide

The Willamette Week’s Annual Give! Guide (giveguide.org) is out and BodyQuirks Wellness and WBV Studio is on page 72Why? To help raise money and awareness for breast cancer survivors. We hope you’ll join us in donating to one of the many worthy causes in this year’s guide.

The Willamette Week’s Give! Guide

The Willamette Week’s Annual Give!Guide is the easiest way for Portlanders to shore up their year-end giving (just in time for tax deductions!). The Willamette Week hand-selects and showcases small, medium and large organizations in the Give!Guide whose missions fall into one of eight categories: Animals, Arts, Community, Education, Environment, Health & Wellness, Social Action, and Youth. The Give!Guide has proved to be a powerful community giving tool and has raised nearly $13 million for hundreds of local nonprofits in the 11 years since its inception. Last year, readers gave $3,145,015 to 136 Portland organizations and the Oregon Cultural Trust.

This year the guide features even more ways to do a good deed with 143 nonprofits featured this year — including the one we’re backing with incentives this year — the Pink Phoenix Breast Cancer Survivor Dragon Boat Team.

pulling ahead

Pink Phoenix Breast Cancer Survivor Dragon Boat Team

We’re donating a 5-pack of Whole Body Vibration (WBV) sessions to each of the first 100 donors to give $25 or more to Pink Phoenix. Pink Martini will be joining us to support these rosy hued Phoenixes, by donating their “Joy to the World” holiday CD to the first 20 donors that give $100 or more.

Pink Phoenix™ is the first dragon boat team comprised solely of breast cancer survivors in the U.S., with a mission to empower breast cancer survivors through the sport of dragon boat racing. Their purpose is to show the quality of life breast cancer survivors can have, promoting wellness, fitness, fun, and camaraderie through dragon boating, as well as to provide social, emotional and spiritual support for breast cancer survivors.

Pink Phoenix™ strives to provide hope to those newly diagnosed and to raise awareness and serve as a reminder to women to do regular self-exams and get their mammograms because research shows early detection is key and that exercise can reduce the risk of cancer reoccurrence.

If you were thinking of picking up a 5-pack here at the studio as a gift this holiday season, you can still do that by donating to the Pink Phoenix Dragon Boat Team through the Give! Guide. This is a great way to support breast cancer survivors, help raise awareness, and pick up a holiday gift that will contribute to the health of a loved one.

Pick up a Willamette Week Give! Guide today and make your giving count this holiday season or give now online at the Pink Phoenix Give! Guide page.

We wish you all a safe and happy Season of Giving!
