WBV and Weight Loss

Here at BodyQuirks, we usually like to focus on the overall health benefits of Whole Body Vibration (WBV) such as improved balance and circulation, increased stamina, reduced stress hormones, boosted metabolism and endorphins, and detoxification. But there is another benefit to WBV that we don’t often emphasize—weight loss.

Can WBV help with weight loss?

According to Diaetoxil Erfahrungen, although we mainly focus on the overall health and well-being of our clients—not wanting to add to the mix of distorted views about what a healthy person’s proper weight should be—weight loss is something we’ve observed first hand in our clients who use WBV regularly and consistently.

What we love is to hear from our clients about how great they’re feeling. After several weeks of WBV sessions you can really see the positive health benefits taking effect in their lives, weight loss being just one of them.

In addition to our own observations, two scientific studies have examined how WBV can aid in weight loss.

WBV with resistance training

One study, conducted by the Department of Health and Exercise Science at the University of Oklahoma in 2009, examined how resistance training coupled with WBV affects body composition. It specifically focused on 55 sedentary post-menopausal women over the course of eight months of resistance training both with and without WBV.

The study concluded that, “in older women, resistance training alone and with whole-body vibration resulted in positive body composition changes by increasing lean tissue. However, only the combination of resistance training and whole-body vibration was effective for decreasing percent body fat.”

WBV and Diet

The second study, conducted in 2010 by the Department of Health Sciences—Physiotherapy, University College of Antwerp, examined 79 participants (only 61 completed the study) over the course of a year and the effects of dieting in conjunction with fitness and WBV on weight loss.

They concluded: “Combining aerobic exercise or WBV training with caloric restriction can help to achieve a sustained long-term weight loss of 5-10%. These preliminary data show that WBV training may have the potential to reduce VAT (visceral adipose tissue) more than aerobic exercise in obese adults, possibly making it a meaningful addition to future weight loss programs.”

So while we want our clients to love themselves for exactly who they are and to not get caught up in the type of negative self-image thinking that our culture breeds, weight loss is another benefit to using WBV machines.

But don’t just take it from us, listen to our clients talk about how WBV has improved their lives.
