Tasty Chilled Soups for a Healthy Body

As part of our Spring Cleanse series, preparing the body for the rigors of a summer filled with fun and outdoor activities, we decided to share a couple of the best chilled soups from one of our favorite blogs Shamangelic Healing with Anahata. She also has a great video on making these type of nourishing raw soups on her site.

These quick and easy recipes are packed with detoxifiers and tons of flavor — and nutrition! So enjoy!Tomatoes for health

Zesty Tomato Super Soup

2-3 medium tomatoes quartered
1 red pepper cored and peeled
2 stalks celery
1 medium peeled cucumber
⅓ cup lemon juice
1-2 cloves garlic (optional)
½ cup flax or olive oil
½ cup Hemp Seeds (to desired thickness)
1 tsp sea salt to taste
1 cup filtered water
1 cup fresh basil
Handful of Dulse sea vegetables
1 Nori sheet torn into small pieces
1 cored apple (optional)
¼ cup soaked sun dried tomatoes

Put it all in a blender or food processor, blending it all until smooth. Store it in a glass container in the fridge until time to eat or drink it. If you are visiting friends or seeing clients, I recommend that you skip the garlic. Raw garlic, though tasty, can be pretty intense on the breath!

These soups are best digested at room temperature.

Healthful green soup

Green Vitality Super Soup

2 cups fresh raw spinach
2 stalks celery
1 medium peeled cucumber
⅓ cup lemon juice
1-2 cloves garlic (optional)
½ cup flax or olive oil
½ cup Hemp Seeds (to desired thickness)
1 tsp sea salt to taste
½ tsp cumin
½ jalapeño chili (more if you ditch the seeds) or cayenne powder to taste
1 cup filtered water
1 cup fresh cilantro
Handful of Dulse sea vegetables
1 Nori sheet torn into smaller pieces
1-2 green onions (optional)
1 tsp of Spirulina powder (optional)

Again, blend all ingredients in blender or food processor and store in a covered glass container for best flavor retention.

Remember, if you hate any of the ingredients, feel free to leave them out or add any others that might compliment the flavor — get creative! Just remember to taste as you go, because many of these foods and flavors, when blended together are masked, while others are heightened, so check by taste before adding more of your favorites.

Buen Provecho! Bon Appetit! Happy Eating!
